FAQ: Do I need Zerk (grease) fittings on my new tie rod ends? What don't the new ones have them?
Japanese manufacture 555 no longer ships their tie-rod-end kits with Zerk fittings pre-installed. They cite the fact that far too many users in fact over-grease the joints and cause the boots to fail. Once the boots fail, the joint life is greatly reduced. If you're the type that likes to grease your joints on occasion and are comfortable with the fact you won't over grease them an blow the boot, simply swap the Zerk fittings from your old joints to the new set. Alternatively you can source the Zerk fittings's from a hardware or auto parts store. Otherwise, the joints come pre-greased and are ready for installation.
Tech Tip: Your steering ends will need to be painted either before or after you have installed them.
We prefer to install them first, wipe them down with some brake cleaner or paint prep and then use a piece of cardboard as a shield to give them a couple of quick coats of paint. You can pre-paint them but we recommend you mask off the threaded portion to prevent installation headaches. In either situation, use an anti-seize product on the threads into the actual tubes themselves.

Tie Rod End Kit.
The kit was perfect. Heavy duty parts. The outer ball joints were missing the grease nipples. I had some M6 nipples on hand so no problem. Would definitely buy parts from here again.

Tie Rod End Kit for FJ60's
Good price, fast shipping, high quality parts. Note that some pieces have no zirc fittings. No worries, you can replace the plug for pennies with a zirc fitting if you want one.

Swapping Tie Rods Is cinch!
If you wrench on your own cruiser, this is an easy job that will take you a couple hours to swap parts, and maybe another hour to align your steering wheel & left/right alignment. This tie rod kit solves death wobble problems and improves loose steering on cruisers. It’s a definite must have, and easy to do yourself. You will save yourself hella money by not taking it to the shop. These are great parts! Two thumbs up!

WAY Better than stock ones!
Threw these on before a 1000+ mile expedition to Colorado where we drove some epic and intense trails in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. these TRE's handled the trip perfectly and on 37" tires I didn't have any room for sloppy TRE's. FJ60
I just installed the tie rod end kit on my 1987 FJ60. They are a quality product and are very well made. The tie rod ends have tapped holes for grease zerks. They had plugs in them, zerks would have been nice. I bought some and installed them. The threads are M6 X 1.0. I recommend the Tie Rod End Kit for your FJ60.
