FAQ: Timken versus Koyo wheel bearings?
Which is better? Both are a fantastic bearing and due to customer demand for both options we stock them both. Timken bearings are made in the USA, Koyo bearings are made in Japan. Both are used OEM by Toyota in older Land Cruisers and various new models as well. We are 100% confident in either option for new and old Land Cruisers alike.
FAQ: Upgraded heavy duty inner axle seals?
All of our knuckle overhaul kits include the standard stock style seal. If you're looking for a heavy duty option due to extreme turn angles, worn seal surfaces on your inner axles or slightly untrue axle housings, Cruiser Outfitters stocks the Marlin Crawler Heavy Duty Eco Seal for all 1969-1997 Land Cruiser axles. See Part# FA33085MA and FA35010MA. Purchase two for your axle overhaul.
FAQ: What else might I need in addition to the knuckle rebuild kit?
We have assembled these kits to contain everything needed for a standard knuckle overhaul, however there might be some items you consider purchasing for your particular rebuild. We have sold thousands of knuckle rebuild kits over the past 20 years and rebuilt hundreds of axles in our shop, we feel confident that our kits contain the right parts to do the job right the first time.
FAQ: Replacing/Rebuilding Your Birfield Joint?
Are you Planning to overhaul/replace or switch your birfield (outer axle joint) from one side to the other? If so, you will want to make sure to have the axle clips that go inside of the birf, they often break when removing the inner axle from the birf. See Part# FACL27091 & FACL34005 for your application. Order 2 per axle.
FAQ: Rebuilding Your Stock Aisin/Asco Hubs?
Are you planning to completely disassemble and overhaul your Aisin hubs? Fortunately they are very simple and contain only a few consumable parts. Plan on 2 of the Aisin dial 0-Rings (Part# HUB060010) and also consider replacing your worn hub dial detent spring and ball (Part# HUBDETENT), 1 kit required per hub. If you need addition hub parts such as studs, cone washers or dial bolts, see our Aisin Hub Parts listing.
FAQ: What tools will you need to complete the job?
At a minimum you will want to have a 50mm hub socket (part# FA301038 fits E-9/1975 drum brake axles) or a 54mm hub socket (part# FA15007 fits all 9/1975-2007 disc brake axles) for your Land Cruiser axle work. Additionally you will need basic hand tools, a brass drift and a spring-scale gauge (Part# FASCALE) and snap ring pliers (Part# FASNAP). These additional items are all easy to source at your local auto parts store.

I’d give 5 stars but dropped one due to what looked like reused parts. Nothing damaged or unacceptable, but one set of the oil seal retaining plates looked like they had seen a soft instillation? (Scratches around the screw holes). By no means does this affect the quality, I just know there are folks out there that would be PISSED if everything didn’t look freshly new. Everything else was in great shape!
If you need to seal those leaky knuckles, boy oh boy will this kit do the trick. Are your wheel bearings still in great shape because you packed them 5,000 miles ago and slapped a bandaid worth of gaskets on your knuckles so you could thrash with the bois down in Moab!? Well... This kit will get you fixed up, sealed up, and on the road after a smooth 10 hours of labor. Who the f*ck are you kidding? You bought an 80 and you're going to let that baby crawl hard... Make sure it all stays together with this kit. As a Bonus: If your trunnion bearings are hot hammered dog trash from the previous owner's "regular maintenance," this kit even has a set. Treat yo 80 kind, and you'll be over 500k in no time. Ok bye! Have a great time.
My knuckles were leaking pretty bad so it was time to do a rebuild. I ordered the kit, plus wheel bearings. It was wonderful and the torque specs in the instructions were handy to have instead of grabbing the phone every few minutes. Everything was in the kit that was supposed to be and it shipped very quick.
The install wasn't as easy as I'd hoped, but I'm a damn cabinetmaker so anyone who has more than zero experience working on vehicles shouldn't have much of a problem. My steering feels so much better now!!!
Thanks for the quick shipping.
